S70 T5 1998 how to install maf

Sorry--the heading should say T5!!!

I have had an increase in the level of "congestion" when trying to start and drive, and especially with acceleration after turning, etc. My mechanic say it's the MAF and I hope that is the case, because I have just had one overnighted. I am not a mechanic nor have I ever really done much save as an assistant. I do not have a chilton's. CCan anyone help guide me on how to install a new MAF sensor in a 1998 s70 T5?

Also, is there more to this since now my car won't even turn over? Yesterday I had to drive with the accelerator to the floor with the other foot on the brake.

Any help appreciated.

you just need to loosen two worm gear hose clamps+unplug the MAF electrical connector

then it's just a matter of persuading the old MAF out from the air intake hose. there is not much to it.

Where are these? I think they are inside that black box on the left front of the engine? Not sure even where to begin! I understand that a novice might do this--I am certainly one!!

The MAF is located just beyond the airbox (air filter box) outlet. Like was said, a couple of hose clamps and the connector are all you need to deal with to change it.

If it's the MAF that's the problem ,you can unplug the connector and the car should start and run in "limp mode". You may want to try this before putting the new one in. The symptoms do sound like a MAF issue.

The hose can be hard to remove from the MAF housing. I found warming it up with a hairdryer made it come off easily.

Beware, the MAF can really suck in terms of getting the intake pipe off of it.
