2008 V70 central locking

Does anyone know if it should be possible to remote lock the car with the alarm light flashing if the boot is open? I can lock mine with the boot open. This does not seem right. I 'phoned the Volvo garage and they didn't seem sure.

On the 08 xc70 I had the doors/liftgate could be locked with remote when tailgate was open and when the tailgate is closed the lock acknowledgement flash will occur. I'm not sure I ever had an occasion to attempt to lock with the triggered alarm lamp flashing if that is what you mean.

Yes, that is exactly what mine is doing. It just seemed a little strange to be able to lock the car with the boot/tailgate open.

It does appear that there is nothing wrong with it.

I don't know about the newer ones but you most certainly can with any Volvo prior to 2008, ALL Gen 1s and P2s work this way.
Many times I have my stuff in the front floor but need to run inside, say the UPS store.
I open the hatch, lock the car and take my packages out, leaving the hatch open but with the rest of the car the doors are locked.
