Front Grille or Grill V70 or S60 installation 2001-2004

Post by voloco »

For those of you who want to upgrade from the old ugly chrome grille on a V70 to a black one will find this information helpful. The grille is not interchangeable between S60 and V70 Wagons for 2001-2004. Although the grille dimensions are correct, the plastic injection molded mounting clips on the bumper and on the grille do not line up!!! WTF?? Right.

Removal and installation is very simple!!!!! Forget all the old post on this site on grille removal or installation on a V70 or S60 model...its much easier!!

This should not take you more than 5 minutes. All you have to do is:
1. Pop out the six plastic pegs along the top of the bumper mount inside the engine compartment.
2. Carefully leverage bumper away from cross member in front of radiator.
3. Fit your hand or a long screwdriver between the flexible bumper and rubber splash guards to access space behind the grille.
4. Push down on metal clips at each of the four plastic grill inserts and pull the top of the grill forward at the same time to loosen the clips. The metal retaining clips are attached to the bumper and the plastic grille inserts have a hole that they slide into and lock. Do this to all 4 top clips first.
5. From the front of the grille you may use a long thin screwdriver to release the bottom three clips. Insert through front of grille and push down on metal retaining clips. Or you may put your hand inside the area behind the grille and push down to release the clips with you hand from behind. There is a flexible rubber splash guard behind grille that you will need to maneuver around.
6. Once all 7 metal clips are released from the grille it slides right out!!!
7. It is as simple as that!!!!!
8. Reinstallation is simply to push the grille back in until all seven metal clips lock into :D
