What is the part number for DEM? I have xc90 2.5T AWD and have the same problem. Anti-skid service required and the all wheel drive does not work.

I have an 04 T-6 XC90 and I am not sure if it's the same part. Darrell Waltrip dealership, It's listed under recommended sites will provide you with the correct part. You will save lots of money ($1000) getting it from him, shipping $10. They will ask you for your VIN from your vehicle to make sure you are getting the correct part. I bought mine from them and had the local dealer install it and program it. If I remember correctly it cost me $250 to have it installed. I get all my Volvo parts from them.

dw volvo has stopped mail order as of may 1 2010

your problem is a little different than OP unless you are scanning the car and getting the same codes. Anti skid message can be a few things, bad angle gear sleeve, defective yaw- sensor under pass seat, driveshaft. most common problems is a pressure sensor but that will not pull a message on the dash. a bad angle gear will. better get it scanned to make sure before you go buy a $1000 part. btw a DEM unit takes all of 10-15 to remove and replace. $250 for labor is nuts. i would install it myself and pay the $100 for a reload flash ect.

I was getting that message and I had to replace the DEM. Yes, get it scanned and don't waste money on parts you don't need. I purchased a scanner for my car, that helps too. Funny that DW stopped mail order, I called them the other day for a part and they didn't tell me that. I didn't buy it cause the dealership where I am sold me the part for the same price.

I don't get any error codes. Just the Anti-skid service required is on and all wheel drive does not work, just the front does.

Can anyone tell me where the DEM is located so I can take a look? Sometimes this light is on and sometimes dissapears.

How are the codes being read? What scanner or software and OBD module?
You should have a code in the car if you have the message.
You can see which modules have codes but not the actual code by turning on ignition, depress the read button on end of turn signal stalk and push and release the rear fog lamp switch twice then release read button. Then scroll the module list by pushing the read button and looking at message center. READY means no codes. CHECKING means no codes but the diagnostics on that module are not complete--may need to be driven or run longer, etc. for the module to complete its evaluations, and DTC means that module has a fault code.
The DEM is a rectangular flat aluminum box bolted to the forward part of the AWD unit on the front of rear diff. It faces 45 degrees towards ground to the left (driver's) side.

I will check for the codes and the device itself. Does anyone knows what is the part number for the DEM? When I call a parts dealer they can't find it if I just ask for DEM (differential Electronic module).

I bought mine from darrellwaltrip.com
don't forget you have to have it program so there is another 150 for software and programing by the dealer.
