Head lamp remote height adjustment in US

Post by J5T »

I have a 2001 V70T5M US spec. I would like to have the EU spec head lamp height adjustment on this vehicle. I have the headlamp switch in the car with the height adjustment. I talked with the guys at Swedish Engineering in Ann Arbor and there are not sure if the I can just by the motor and if I would need a software dump. Does anyone know if I can add this feather to my US spec vehicle? And if so, what does it take. Danke.

Honestly, anything is possible with the right about of money. If it is worth it is another story. I would think that you would need the motors, harness, and a software update at the very least.

I have found out that the wire harness is already there. I have the head light switch installed now for 2 years, no problem. The motors just switch out. Still not known if software is needed.

hmm a multimeter may be able to tell you if the switch will supply 12V to the motor connectors when activated. If it is does then you are probably in luck.

That's a good idea. I will give this a try since I have the switch and if I get power then I do not need any software updates.

I would think that if you get power then you are good to go. Also, check and make sure that you have the fuse installed for this. If you check under the the Repair Database under all the ads at the top of this page you will find wiring diagrams. They may help you determine if you need to insert a fuse in a vacant spot or if one of the already present fuses has provisions for powering the motor. By far the easiest thing to do is see if you get power to the meter. If you get this to work and I imagine that there will be others looking to do the same mod. Can you post a picture and part number of the switch?
