The airbag is in the upper part of the glovebox. Go ahead and remove the knee bolster

So, now I have good heat on the passenger side, but not on drivers. I found and pulled the drivers side temp motor, and it seemed to be working properly. Is there a way to check if it is opening all the way not? Or is there a way to re-calibrate it? I seem to remember a thread about a reset for the damper motors, but can't find it.

The procedure for the recalibration is in the service manual that we host on this site. It is the biggest asset that any Volvo 850 owner can have in my humble opinion.

phat78ta, what did you do to get heat on the passenger side?
It appears that both motors for the heater flaps are functioning ok. I cannot quite get to them, since they are behind the drop-down heater vents for the front (just under the dash directing to the feet). I can feel them, and hear them when I adjust the controls. I feel fairly certain they are working.......that leaves the heater core. I am going to attempt to open up the unit, and see if I can get a couple fingers in there to feel the warmth of the core itself when the engine is at temperature. I guess its possible that the pipes and hoses to/from the core from the enginge block could be getting hot by pure conduction, and not much actual water flow. Man, I do not want to have to replace the core. if it is clogged, are there any "super" cleaners that migh help unplug it?

I have the exact same issue. I just replaced the heater core with a bran new, OEM part and it has increased slightly but it is still not good. Just like everyone else here, if I drive, the air gets cooler. The second I get off an exit the engine temp increases to almost half way (about 40%) up the temperature gauge and the air temp increases by at least 10-20 degrees fahrenheit.
Let me know if anyone fine a solution and I will surely do the same!

hay guys i had the same problem to but as i found by pullin my car apart found that the control lever above heater fan came off,
dont no what is exacty but if you remove your clove box and slighty to your left you can see a square shaft and a control lever,on my it had come off but its quite hard to see at first and the control lever was tucked down basicaly out of site so at first missed it .sorry my typin skills of explanation no good but us kiwis like that...

I replaced the thermostat, but that didn't fix the heat on the drivers side, the passenger side might have had good heat before. The only solution I can think of is re calibrating the damper motors.Newman3son wrote:phat78ta, what did you do to get heat on the passenger side?
