How do i increase horsepower/torque on my S70?

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

How do i increase horsepower/torque on my S70?

Post by patchesohoulihan »

So i own a base model S70 and sense its the base model its relitively gutless for power. I plan on putting a cold air intake on and freeing up the exhaust, so other than that are there any ways a stupid 18 year old could make some easy mods to it to increase the horsepower/torque?

Look up the 960 throttle plate mod.

Aside from that, sell it and buy a turbo.

Alright. sounds simple enough. And hahaha, nah. Id rather waste my money trying to make up for the lack of a turbo. But thanks for the info.

Totally just solved your Lack of a real turbo problem!

ELECTRIC TURBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! other than that, nothing much you can do, larger injectors with a ECU Remap. but if its in good condition, sell it and get a T5 :) that will put a huge smile on your face! and trust me i am only 21 and i am always wanting more power and boost!

No. Those are like the people that duct tape leaf blowers to Civics. Useless piece of junk.

You can play around with cam timing to move the torque curve to where you need it. I have mine setup for minimum overlap and low end torque. On a high mileage daily driver I consider the lack of turbo an asset.

If I had it to do over again, I would probably go for the NA 5-speed S70 instead of the T5 - the guy just wanted too much for it. They're no speed demon - it felt about as quick as my 2,500 lb Accord with 70 less HP, but a stick will make just about anything more fun.

Plus the gas mileage on the T5 is crap because it's too much fun to keep your foot out of the floor.
