I wish I had looked into this site when all I had was Transmission, and ABS lights.
I am dead in the water, a no start, before I take the ABS out, and touch it, or buy one from you.
It shows " SRS-airbag service urgent". When you actually turn the key to start, only the oil and check engine lights are on.
almost seems like the brain thinks it's running, but can't see oil pressure. Shorted alternator?
Do I buy the ABS or go some other direction. It's only $60, I spent $80 yesterday with brakes. No big deal, just want to get it started and drive again. Love the car. No hard feelings, and no more questions, what do you think? Steve

Your problem seems to be more serious than ABS module. But it could be that. You can throw a lot of parts on it and spend money and maybe even complicate the repair for someone who has the capabilities to read the full car system codes that ultimately has to repair it.
The SRS can be on for many reasons, No communication with the network or a fault with the SRS module or a totally unrelated fault in wiring only connected to SRS system and in no way responsible for no-start.
I would forget the SRS for now.
The car has two networks. One is for things NOT powertrain or brake related and the other is for everything else. The powertrain network could be down due to ABS module or a number of other things and the signal about gear position can't be delivered to the Central Electric Module (CEM) and it will not trigger the starter relay and the starter will not work with key.
Some of the modules can't be replaced without software loading to "marry" them to the network and to actually put the software in them as they can come blank.

Sounds like I need to get it on a hook then. Drag it to Jacksonville. Is that pretty much your input?
You are right I don't need to complicate it. But would love a solution. Thanks Jimmy.
I hope to get a couple more ideas before I toss in the towel. But the towel is pretty dirty. Thanks again.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier.
I don't send them out in advance anymore for S80's. Way too many instances where the module doesn't do anything for the ABS lights, as in around 80%. I can test yours and we can go from there, but that's all I can offer.
With all the other modules the rate of resolving the lights is about 98%, with the Can-Bus cars, it's around 20%.

Hi Matt,
I noticed you requested the schematics for the Volvo 850 abs unit a while back in one of the threads and wondered if you had any luck getting hold of one? some of the capacitors on my abs control unit are damaged and they need replacing but I can't find out what the capacitance of them are. Wondering if you had a diagram showing them or maybe I could send you an image of the ones I mean and you could tell me what the capacitance would be for each (there are 4 damaged). If you could let me know a cost of this that would be great, I would have sent the unit into you for repair but live in the Uk and it would be a bit costly.
Look forward to hearing from you
Regards
Paul

I gave up on getting any specs regarding the circuit board, it's just not out there or available.
I've replaced resistors but really don't go much farther than that. For the time involved its more cost efficient to just buy a used one and resolder everything. Realistically its somewhat rare for the capacitors to go out.

Thanks for the reply, I mean would there be anyway you could check the capacitance on the capacitors on a working unit if I sent you a pic and pop a few dollars in your paypal account
as I could pick the capacitors up for next to nothing but the whole unit is around £100 from what I have seen on ebay and would def like to give the capacitors a go before dishing out the cash.
If you can't I understand but thanks again for the quick response

I'm in need of a ABS unit for a '99 S-70 non turbo car, It is having all the classic symptoms. [email protected].
