ETM reimbursement!!!

Post by wolf »

Im so excited that the etm I spent 1,000 on 2 weeks ago will now be paid for by volvo!!! Yeah!!!! But I am the second owner, so I am guessing I will not get the letter send to my house, so do i just wait a month or so until all the dealerships are aware of the new warranty and reimbursement? what do you think i should do? thanks!

Also, is the 10 year 200,000 mile warranty from the date the car was made, like 10 years and 200,000 miles after 1999, or is it 10 years 200,000 miles after the etm was replaced?

I'd call your local dealer and ask about the reimbursement.

As for the letter: whatever you do, I'll bet you end up getting it. Volvo has an uncanny ability to know my address no matter how many times I move (without giving them notice).
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

Hmm? I traded that vehicle in a few months back, but I doubt Volvo knows I am not the current owner. I have a copy of the $1000 invoice from the dealer garage with my name imprinted. I wonder if that is sufficient, and how do I go about getting a refund??

OK, I called Volvo Customer Service at 1-800-458-1552, and talked to a pleasant gentleman.

He said:

1) In about 2 months those of us affected will receive a letter requesting information. When queried, he thought that a copy of the repair would be required.

2) He said this is NOT being handled by the Dealers, there are TOO many of them. Though not specified, I assume that VCOA will handle this.

3) He suggested, and we checked, that my vehicle and VIN# were in their system, so as to receive the mailing. I suggest you check to verify you are in their system, he had my name mis-spelled. He indicated that my vehicle was definitely in the group slated for this reimbursement/warranty.

Cheers all.

Let's give it a few days. I have an address of where to sent the receips but the last I heard they were not set up to handle the flood of messages. I have been promised a copy of the letter as soon as it is sent. I will post it here and link to it from other forums. Let's move the ETM traffic over here. I will also send it to my 300 + VEXED warriors around the world in 14 countries. They are going to have a hard time getting a warranty replacement.

If you are on SKYPE give me a ring if you see me on line, my SKYPE name is 'donwillson'. If you are not on SKYPE and want to have world wide free voice communications let me know at [email protected] and I'll send your name in. I get some freebees if I recommend someone. I talked to France last week and it was as clear as a bell.

I took my 2000 XC V70 into the dealer yesterday expecting to have the ETM replaced along with my 105,000 service. The manager told me that they weren't doing it because their area rep said NO! My ETS light has come on and off once in a while and my car has "stuttered" a couple of times after a stop. I called the Volvo Customer Line this morning and talked to Jordon and he set up a file on my car and IMMEDIATELY called the dealer and made it clear that VOLVO would be paying for the ETM replacement. I very much appreciate the information that is posted on this site. Thanks!!!

I got my ETM replacement compliments of VOLVO!!! I'm impressed with the customer service of VOLVO at the above listed number. My car is running great (took care of the bad starting!).

The dealer is doing mine right now with no problems. They are also not charging a check-out fee which would of been $100. I do have a $225 bill for a bad turbo switch of some kind, but I am happy and treated very well.
