Ok...thought my days of Volvo repair questions and posting was done when my 740 was sold. (LOL)(Man I miss that car!)
I have an 04 xc90 T6 and the sunroof no longer opens. Checked fuse and it's good. No error messages. no motor noises at all. its closed so that's good. Is there a relay I should consider? Any help appreciated...
I also have concerns re: transmission. I know something like 50% of the T6s transmissions burn out...mine is now out of warranty but 90k kms only on it. While researching the sunroof motor I stumbled on all the trani. nightmares and man I'm seriously thinking of getting rid of it before mine goes...with my wife back in school I couldn't afford a new transmission. Mine is ok except for some dark fluid..shifts fine...but I'm so worried that I'm really thinking of listing it. Has anyone heard if Volvo NA is doing anything for owners (I see there is an all new trani and a lawsuit)? Obviously I'm preferential to the most inexpensive option.
Thanks for you help!

I just bought an 06 with a non working sunroof. Changed fuse but nothing happened. No motor noise either. I read they have a relay in them to prevent overheating, but I have no idea where it is or if that is the problem. It is one of those relays that's supposed to reset when it cools down.
I'm gonna wait until spring and have someone look at it.
I too read all he tranny nightmares on here. I searched out and bought one with the t5 FWD.
I traded my 2000 v70 with its troublesome electronic throttle before it went out.
I would seriosly consider changing vehicles if you arein position to, but, some people have had no problems with them.

Should be the same an an S80, so try this:
Shut all doors and then insert the key into the drivers door. Lock and unlock the car 3 times; this will reset the upper electrical module that controls the sunroof.

Thanks. Tried that procedure though it doesn't seem to be working. Maybe I have bigger issues. Any ideas on quickly testing the existing relays? I think I'm going to sell this before I hit 90k kms..so I'd like to have the sunroof operational.
Thanks
Mike
Thanks

I have an 01 v70 and the sunroof stopped working. There no response to any requests made by the switch. Also i had noticed the sunroof do not pre-load the roof seal while closed.
I preformed the upper control module reset and the sunroof began to work.I also set the open threshold by venting the glass up ward and then holding the vent position of the switch again for five seconds. Now the sunroof properly seals when in its closed position.
Thank you jblackburn for your useful post.

Ok so my Siren is Faulty, the mechanic says Replace siren and blind rivet whatever that is. Is there anyway to disconnect the siren so my sunroof will work. Or do i have to get the siren replaced.

Remove the siren, theft of 10 year old Volvo is unlikely. They already have the reputation as undesirable to steal due to the alarm.
Go to dealer and have them download "remove alarm" software.
My sis has a 99 S80 T6. I just did this to here car. They charged me $74 for the software plus loading it.
I had removed the siren.
You can remove siren and get sunroof back but you'll end up with a message unless the alarm function is cancelled from the affected modules via software.
