1994 Volvo 850 wagon Key Chiming continues after door closed

I have a 1994 850 wagon. When you insert the key into the ignition the chiming starts I believe because the door is open. I close the door and the chiming continues. I start the car and the chiming continues. Then I can drive the car and the chiming continues. Very annoying. I do not notice anything on the door that would be the switch and I am thinking it could be broken but I am not sure where to look. Anyone have any ideas?

P.S. If I remove key from ignition the chiming does stop with door open or closed.

This is an issue with the door switch. When this happens, does the interior lights stay on?

I will have to check tomorrow. I didn't notice one. I did notice that the drivers side sunvisor is missing and the wires may be cut. Would that cause anything? I know that has a mirror light on it I believe.

Check the fuses. The same circuit that triggers the door chime powers the lights to the vanity mirror and if the wires got cut with the battery in place it would cause the chime to never turn off. Push comes to shove you can remove relay 212 and it will shut the chime up. The 212 relay is normally blue and it has slots cut into the top.

My s70 door chime kept going after the door was closed, even to the point of slamming it a few times to no avail. Super annoying, ding ding ding ding ugh. It worked properly in warmer temperatures but seems to be the cold weather triggers it. For now I pulled the 212 chime relay as a temporary fix, so thanks Lee for this temporary solution it brought great relief.

Quite interesting that you mention that it's on the vanity mirror circuit... I don't know if it's anything at all , but drivers side visor mirror light bulb has no power to it, but the passenger side does have power to it, and working bulbs. I just figured this out after trying to replace the bulbs on driver side and then found new bulbs didnt work.... I'm a newbie on the electrical stuff so I'll carefuly work on that to figure it out.

If it's weather related, I'd put my money on a failing switch in the door latch.
Mines been doing the same thing recently. A shot of TriFlow helped to a degree,
but sometimes I still have to close it a little harder than I'd like to silence it.

My fix is a new door latch assembly. Since it's the most used latch in the car and
the one that I would least prefer to enter a failure mode, I'm going with new.
