S80 T6 trouble code P1633 Topic is solved

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

I got my ABS module rebuilt by Auto & Truck Electronics of West Palm Beach, Florida. Their website is www.autoecu.com I do not see them with a current E-bay listing, but until quite recently they listed Volvo s80 ABS module rebuilds for $75.00. (They did mention suffering damage from the last Florida hurricane) Call them at 800-257-3395 and they will fax you an order form and shipping label (they pay your shipping to them). Return shipping is $20.00 UPS Ground. You can pay via PayPal. Turn around was about 7 days for me. They give a 5 year warranty on the rebuild.

I know there are others out there doing rebuilds. Rocha's site is impressive, and I have to admit his removal instructions were outstanding (I confess to using them). I feel a little guilty not giving him the business, but these folks were a good bit cheaper (generally, a high prority for me). They did a great job for me, so I can highly recommend them. By the way, I managed just fine with a 5/32 socket and avoided buying (and searching for) an E5 torx socket -- cheapskate that I am. Best of luck to you!

Just in case you're feeling adventuresome, you might want to look at this ebay listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... AMEWA%3AIT
Looks like you could get it cheap (but since it's not from your car, it may need a dealer software download??). Just a thought...

There is NO software download for the ABS controller, that's a line you'll get from a $tealer or someone looking to tap the billfold. It's strictly PNP. It runs it's own diagnostics from startup to rollaway (approx 8mph).

And I'd advise against buying a used "STOCK" controller. It will have the same inferior parts that EVERY s80 module has.

Stevick said that his bad ABS control module would freeze the odometer on occasion. I bought this car with 125K miles on it and the ABS light was on when I bought it. Does this mean my mileage may not be accurate? :?

So does he have $250-300k on his Volvo? If I'm not mistaken the odometer feed is not affected by the Controller link. However, the TRIP meter will "dash out" and reflect a "freeze" that he mentions. The odometer will still accrue, though. If he could verify that it was the ODOmeter then I'd be willing to research.

I just know one thing. My odometer was working before I took out the ABS control module and sent it to Victor Rocha. I have not got it back yet, so I am driving it with no ABS module. But since taking it out, the odometer has not worked. I sure hope it starts working when I get the module back and put it in.

Just got my ABS module back from him, put is back in the car in about 15 minutes, started the car and "poof", all lights turned off like magic. I had to reset my check engine with my OBD 11 but he can tell you how if you don't have one. Three cheers for VICTOR !!!!

Great to hear that it all worked for you. Enjoy the car, I know I am enjoying mine!

BTW, it was both the trip meter and odometer that were freezing (intermittently) when the ABS module was bad. The speedo worked fine throughout. I suppose the car could have had more than the 220K it showed when I got it (no telling how long the problem existed). It's hard to believe that a 2000 could have gotten much more than that though. The story I got was that it was owned by an airline pilot who commuted many highway miles to and from the carrier's hub.

It seems that when the ABS unit fails, the trip meter (below the odemeter) will freeze. You can see the same effect when the ABS module is removed from the car. The odometer appears to function correctly even when the ABS unit is removed.

I had my ABS unit rebuilt and installed the repaird unit this morning. All is well so far.
