Audio auxiliary hook up for ipod

Post by dbernstein »

I just bought a 2010 XC90. There is an auxiliary ipod hook up in the center console and a USB port in the glove box.

1. Is it true that an after market auxiliary chord for the ipod will not allow the car stereo to control the ipod and would have to be controlled by the device itself?

2. If I buy it from Volvo will the stereo be able to control the ipod?

2. What can be connected to the USB port? What file type can the stereo read?

I do not know if you have ever used a car ipod interface but they are terrible across the board and its rather slow and annoying to use. the best solution is keeping the control in the ipod.

The usb in the glove box can be fitted with a usb to gen 4 nano or ipod caple and it works like a charm. It is controllable from the steering wheel and the information is displayed on the dash. A perfect and easy and well integrated system.
