I travel an hour - - twice a day - -to work and back . I travel at 100 to 130 Kph - - -( 60 to 75 mph for the rest ) average - -

The 850 has burned less than a litre ( A quart ) in a month of that daily Abuse and its running like a train - - but - - when I slow down to stop in traffic after a good run - - and then accelerate from stop - - I get a nice compact little puff of oil smoke !

Aaand it wont desist however I drive . - - I have looked at the Valve stem seal Article - - but I reason seeing as how It burns very little oil that it isn't Stem Seals

After I finish dealing with the son in laws 850 - - which has major problems of its own - - I will replace the PCV Box - - and the Catalytic convertor ( I have already purchased both ). - - Any other suggestions ?

What color is the smoke? How is your MPG? You might be seeing soot from too much gas.

Gas ( errr Petrol down here in the land of the Kangaroo ) consumption is not good - - 500 Kms ( about 300 UK Miles per tank ) - - but I know that the Catalytic Convertor is not putting any Back pressure into the System - - -, ( I am able to feed a wooden rod straight through it we have no Emission checking Regulations here - - so some Dealers will fit a " Can " instead of a convertor when a replacement is done ) . The colour of the Smoke is definitely Oil Light Grey .

300 miles/tank is about normal for a T5 model; a bit on the worse side for a NA, but it really depends on what kind of driving you do - these cars are incredibly inefficient when accelerated from a stop.

If you still have a rear O2 sensor and no check engine light, your cat converter is working just fine.

My car has dying valve stem seals, but still burns very little oil - 1 qt/5000 miles or so, which isn't bad for a turbo car. That would still be what I'd suspect. After it sits overnight, start it up, wait a few seconds, and then punch the gas and look behind you. If you've got smoke, it is for sure valve seals.
