I just got back from AutoZone and they were kind enough to pull out their ODB2 scanner and provide me with an error code P2231 which i assume is why my Check Engine light has come on. They told me it was Bank 1 Sensor 1 and said it was the #1 O2 sensor. I wanted to ask some questions or do a little research before purchasing the sensor. I was actually thinking I had a problem with my throttle body since my car has just started having a rough idle when cold or for the first couple of miles or so upon starting each time. I will probably clean out the throttle body anyway, but how would I find out what the culprit is that caused the O2 sensor to fail. Maybe its just the 100K I have on it, I should simply replace it, and move on. But if there is an underlying factor, I don't want to keep repeating this step. The car still runs like a beast, I haven't seen any decline in performance at all, but i don't want to end up with a converter problem.
Can anyone validate the P2231 = front or #1 O2 sensor? Any help diagnosing a possible cause. I would greatly appreciate any help in this matter. Thanks js

Unless you go to Volvo and have them check it, all you will get are generic codes and it's a guess.

I found this site when researching obd2 scanners for purchase. Does not list the R model seperately but hope it helps.
