I have a '99 S70 N/A, and quite often the idle will drop to very low, around 500 RPMs, and some times it will pick back up, or sometimes it will stall. This happens when i step on the brake and slow or come to a complete stop. It has a better chance of stalling when I turn because of the power steering pump needing more power. I'm really hoping its the ETM so that it will be covered by warranty, but I am afraid to take it in if it isn't because the budget is really tight right now. The ETM light has never come on, but the "shift up" light has on occasion flashed very quickly. The gear selector is always in Drive when this happens.
The car has 115k miles, and to my knowledge is on its original ETM.
Any thoughts or tests or fixes?
Is it my ETM, or something else?

Sounds like the typical faulty ETM to me and at that mileage, you're lucky to still be on the original one. If you do take it to the dealer and it's not the ETM, you can always just decline repair service and you'll only be charged the diagnostic fees associated with finding the problem.
