Help, Advice and DIY Tutorials on Volvo's P80 platform cars -- Volvo's 1990s "bread and butter" cars -- powered by the ubiquitous and durable Volvo inline 5-cylinder engine.
Hey guys, my turbo is on the way out, so insted of buying a new/rebuilt 16t for my car... its a DD so you can see why id rather buy a new turbo then rebuild mine and send it to get balanced..
I picked up a 18t, exhaust, tune, ebc etc...
Does anyone have a link to a walk thru of how to replace a turbo on a 1998 s70 t5?
Probably going to do exhaust and turbo at the same time. Thanks.
Remove exh pipe from turbo and tie over and back. Remove all heat shields and the secondary air check valve and set aside.
remove the drain pipe via the two allen screws, it will also be necessary to remove the clamp holding feed and drain pipes together.
Remove air inlet tube and the TC valve hoses from wastegate and compressor outlet.
Remove the water pipes from turbo.
Remove cross-drilled bolts on oil pipe at block and turbo ends and set aside.
Remove the 10 nuts on exhaust manifold. SOAK WITH PB BLASTER!!!! SOAK AGAIN WITH PBB!!!
Once removed you can separate turbo from manifold. Soak those too!
You will need 5 exh gaskets, 8 copper seals for oil and coolant fittings, best to get the two collant rubber hoses now, turbo drain gasket and rubber seal where it inserts into block. Also gasket for secondary check valve if it was removed from its flange.
