Volvo S70 Spoiler installation question

Post by neworleans »

Hello friends,

I just purchased a spoiler for my 2000 S70 and tried to install it today. The spoiler came with bolts and double sided pad.
I aligned the strips and after removing the strips, I found out that I would have to drill some more holes from the inside of the trunk in order to install the bolts. I stopped there and haven't installed it yet.

Did anyone install a spoiler for a S70? Can you take some pics of the trunk from inside and post it here or email it to me please.
If your spoiler is bolted, it will give me an perfect idea how the bolts are screwed thru.
Any recommendation will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance...

A template is usually a piece of thin cardboard like poster board. Templates used for installation of anything that requires holes being drilled in a precise manner and location. They will usually come with the part being bought and may be part of the packaging your spoiler came in.

Templates are nothing more than a pattern. It will have the holes marked on it along with the outline of the spoiler and the image on it will look like a line drawing. There will be some way to align the template on the trunk lid so you can tape it down over the correct spot and transfer the hole location(s) from it to the trunklid. The most common templates I know of that you may have seen are used with house door locks. These templates are just a sheet of paper with the hole location(s) for the striker and knob and/ or lock barrel on the door. The template for your spoiler will be much the same except for the size and it will be made out of thicker paper or rhin cardboard.

If you do not have a template for your spoiler and there is not one marked on its packaging then you are screwed. The only ways to get one might be from a body shop that works on a lot of Volvos or perhaps locating a trunklid for your model car, getting a piece of paper and transferring the hole pattern onto it to make your own template. Other than that I don't have a clue where you could come up with one.
