My car beat itself up!

Post by jblackburn »

4 1/2 hours into a 5 hour trip a few weekends ago (figures, right?), I hit a bump and my left turn signal fell off the car completely, and smashed into the bumper/fender a few times at 70 mph. It appears the tab was brittle and just broke off, but it did fall out a few more times before I gave up trying to put it back in, and completely gashed the crap out of my paintwork.

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if there's anything I can do to fix her up again short of getting that fender/bumper repainted? The good news is it didn't get down to the metal, so it's not going to rust, but I haven't tried picking at it or trying to do anything that might further mess up the paintwork.

Here's some pictures:

That's a respray job as it's down to primer. No amount of touching in is going to make it look good.

I know the feeling. My car rolled forward when I was parking it the other day and scrapped the bottom of the front bumper. Now there are white scratches in the paint and the only way to fix them is to have it repainted. The car is only 2 and a half months old.

I would just look for a used fender with the same colour in descent shape. Might cost you less and take less time to assemble than any paint job.

I looked at this recently. It was $75 shipped to me in CT. You have to put your zip in for shipping. This is a pic of it.
