listening to the stereo while parked
listening to the stereo while parked
i everyone, I'm brand new to this site having just gotten a 2002 S60 AWD. What can i say, I love the car, it drives really well. I also realized the stereo is not bad, however, when I try to just sit in the car with the engine off to listen to the stereo with the key in 1, the instrument panel lights come on; and for fear of draining the battery, I would just turn the stereo off, and pull out the key. Is it really designed this way or there's a work around to turning off the lights while listening to the stereo while parked? Thanks.
Thanks for the reply, jda2000.
I was not expecting that. I also found out the AC fan is juiced when the key is in position 1, but fortunately can be manually switched off.
Any suggestions on what I can try or test or do, short of replacing the ignition switch?
Thanks.

I had the lights programmed off on my 2004 S60 2.5T. I have to manually turn the lights off and on now, but it has saved me from replacing bulbs and keeps them off when the car is off. COst me $80.00 at my Volvo dealer.
