'89 740 Turbo Wagon SRS Light

How do you reset this little rascal? The only thing I've found references a cover marked "SRS" next to the cigar lighter. Not on mine there isn't.
Someone else said that being an '89, it shouldn't even have an SRS system. It does, trust me.
I tried disconnecting the battery, but that didn't work. I'm going to be replacing bulbs in the cluster here shortly, and may just leave that one out if I can't reset it!

My Service light won't reset with the button, either. Aggravating, to say the least.

I´m having the same problem, I was checking the fuel pump on my v70 2000, I removed the back seats and disconnected a cable from the seats, when everything was back into place, I started and engine and the SRS SERVICE was on. Now I don´t know what to do to turn it off!!

Please help us!

You've got to call up the code on the self diagnostic, read it two more times, and then hold it down a long time twice to clear it. Explained better here!

The button on the On Board Diagnostic- it talks about it in the link I gave, but it may be more thorough to go read the top Sticky on this board's index, put there by Bill of Durham. The OBD is a black box in the engine compartment by the driver's side fender well, where you can pull codes from the car's computer.

Unfortunately, that only applies to 1992+ cars. On the earlier 2 and 7 series you have to manufacture a jumper lead and test in a different way. On the 740 the jumper lead has to be connected between the empty fuse terminal 24 and earth (ground). The cigarette lighter housing is ideal. The rest of the instructions are in the attached.

Thanks for the link, Bill. I'll check it out tomorrow.
Regarding the other post about the SRS lamp coming on after fuel pump service, mine didn't illuminate until after I had returned the drivers side rear seatback to the upright position after a fuel module replacement. I'd wager that therein lies the gremlin.

Haven't had time to mess with it yet. Changing trannies on Thursday, so will try to get to it then.

The SRS unit is under driver's seat (left seat). Look to see that the connectors are secure. Removing and re-fitting seat shouldn't result in a warning light unless wiring was disturbed. The warning light is default on and the SRS unit has to ground the light circuit to turn it off. Disconnected connector will cause it to come on.
