I just got a 2002 Volvo S80 T6 and the only issue is the CAT. I don't know much about cars but I do not want to get scammed by a mechanic.. again. One mechanic told me I had only one catalytic converter in this car, but another mechanic said there is two converters.. My question is how many converters are there and how much do I have to pay just for the converters (no labor). I want to buy the cheapest aftermarket CATs available. All I want is the check engine light to turn off... Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thank you!
Bronson

There is one catalytic converter which has two inlet pipes each with its own cat and one outlet pipe to the rest of the exhaust system.

PO422 and PO420.. Also does anyone know where I can find the cheapest catalytic converter built specifically for this car? Would this one work?

I'd suggest fully fault-tracing the exhaust system first, as you might not need a cat (unless someone's stuck a 5 gas analyzer in the tailpipe and confirmed you're over the limits). You could have a leak admitting air causing a false reading, a fouled downstream O2 sensor, wiring problem, etc.
