What precopster said. As rare and desirable vehicles age and get rarer, clean examples get more valuable. Take a look at what a clean 262C costs these days, and how hard it is to find one in the first place.
One could perform the head gasket job and then sell the car for its full book value, and I still think that's the best move if the OP wishes to get maximum payout from it. Let's remember that cars are, generally, a terrible investment. Nobody ever pays on what they "could" be, only on what they actually are at the moment of sale.

I cant believe how much it went for with a blown engine! I payed 2500 for my current 850 and my previous 850!
