I bought a used siren to try and cure my lack of siren, sunroof and to also clear the Alarm Service message.
Siren at least does something now, it sounds when it should but it is very quiet, service message has disappeared, but if I unplug siren while it is sounding, it stops, which presumably, due to the backup battery, it is not designed to do.
Could this siren still be pulling down my sunroof, is there some kind of resetting I have to do? Or could the motor be knackered? I have already checked that there is power at both sides of fuse 34 in the end of the dash. Any advice appreciated, thankyou.
When i pull down on the sunroof switch I hear a relay click, and when I release it clicks off. When I pull the switch back I hear a relay click but it only clicks off again if I push the switch foward, hopefully that is normal. Does the relay operation help diagnose why the sunroof does nothing? Thankyou
V70 Changed siren, still no sunroof, bad siren still?

The siren should not stop when unplugged--the battery, if it is good, should keep it running. Did you reset the UEM by locking and unlocking your car with the key three times in a row?will-sussex-uk wrote:I bought a used siren to try and cure my lack of siren, sunroof and to also clear the Alarm Service message.

yes I did. Well I have investigated further and pulled the headlining down and guess what, motor had been disconnected (black & green plug) I connected it and the roof does at least do something now but.. its as if it is out of sync or a bit haywire. It does not fully go flush when closed and never goes into tilt position. Anyone had that problem? I tried the reset procedure again (door unlock x 3) but no difference. I guess its why someone disconnected motor, so they could get it to close flush.
Its almost like its getting a signal to say its in fully foward position when its got a couple of inches to go. Then you push switch up (as if to tell it to tilt) and it goes the remaining way foward and nearly to the flush position and stops. It seems to me like that part should be it tilting . Anyone know how it senses its position and knows when to change switch mode?

use the switch pushed and released repeatedly in the vent position and it will incrementally go to vent position. very small increments!
Once it no longer moves in the full open vent position, hold the switch continuously for 5 seconds.
The calibration being complete will be noted by the sunroof motor moving the sunroof towards closed and then back to vent.

Jimmy you are a STAR, you fixed my car! It didn't work exactly like you said, (it would not move up to tilt even after pressing the switch a hundred times) but I decided to try holding it for 5 seconds anyway and to my surprise it went into the full tilt position. Now it tilts and slides!
The weird thing is the switch works slightly differently to the way the book says it does, book says you press switch twice to make it auto open etc, but it seems you just push it further. (Like an auto window)
Thankyou Jimmy and Thanks Matthew for the excellent forum. Owning one of these cars just wouldn't be viable without the help here.
