I recently had the socket end fitting break on one of the trunk gas springs,(or struts, or lift supports, depending on who you are talking to) for my '02 Volvo S60 T5. I searched for the fitting itself, but it has a somewhat funky thread (6mm, 1.25 pitch), and was unable to find a replacement for the fitting. I then set about finding a replacement lift support. I was suprised to find the same part number at AutoZone, O'Reillys and Pep Boys, with Pep Boys having the part at the lowest price. The part was in a warehouse in another state. I paid for the part, two days later it arrives, and suprise! it is made by Stabilus, who made the original. I did not expect this, as the online research indicated "Sachs". No tools to install, works great.
