Unfortunately I was in an accident yesterday and my 94 Volvo 850 was totaled. It had a great run and you guys helped me to keep it up and running as best as I could. I wanted to run it into the ground (not through an accident of course) but to take it as far as I could, and it ended yesterday.
Goodbye to a great car. Thanks for all your help here.

Hi guys,

Thankfully I got out of the car catching fire as the inspectors mentioned that if it had gone another inch into the car it would have been a gas line (YIKES!) Thank you for all of your help and I hope you all take care of your cars that are as old as mine (maybe even older for some of you).

Bummer, a sad day indeed.
But I'm glad the car did its job in protecting you and let you walk away from the crash!

Thats too bad, Thank God you're ok though. How Fast were you going and do you have any pictures?
Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary... That's what gets you.

I was going about 30-35 but even that made a pretty good impact. I'll post pictures to see later. I'm still dealing with all the other stuff right now.

Are you looking for another 850 or V70 to take it's place?

Yeah, I lost my 850 to an accident about 5 years ago; Some old duffer (83) suffered some sort of stroke, and at 45 mph rammed a pickup which was driven into the back end of my car. I'd only had it about 3 months, bought from the original owner, always on synthetic oil and ALL the required maintenance and only 80K miles; had a brand a new timing belt too.
It drove the right rear corner in about 6 inches including the frame (I've still got a stiff neck). We were sitting at a traffic light waiting for the green. The insurance company totaled it as repairs would have been about $6000.

Sad news about you and the car, but glad it protected you, this is why we have two Volvo's now instead of 1 and a BMW. I hope you will stick around and get another Volvo to "run in to the ground"! Glad you're okay.
