I bought recently a V70 2.5 Turbo AWD manufactured Sept 2001 and found to my disappointment that 'Haynes' do not make a worshop manual for precicely this V70 AWD Turbo version of the V70.
I have serviced and repaired all my cars for years and would like to do the same with this Volvo.
My question is for those who really know the answer. Please help.
If I buy the Haynes workshop manual for the V70 2.5 NON-Turbo non-AWD will everything else be similar ?
I do not intend to tackle things like clutch change or turbo units but would like to be able to do things like replacing spark plugs and RE-GAPPING them. Are the gaps the same in the 2.435 cc engine whether turbo or naturally aspirated engines for example ?
I intend to do things like:
Replace the timing belt;
Replace brake pads, brake master cylinder and slave cylinders;
Replace the water pump, the (main) radiator, change oil, replace oil filter, things like that.
I intend to buy the Haynes workshop manual for the more standard V70 the 2.435 cc engine (non turbo, non AWD)
How similar are the items in both V70's ?
I am not asking about what parts to buy. The dealer will know what parts to supply. I am referring to DATA like spark plug gaps and procedure to replace water pumps, radiator, brake pads, discs, what for example what TORQUE to tighten the disc brake bolts bolts at, for example. All that sort of thing.
Will the Haynes manual for the more std V70 do for the Turbo AWD version ?
Please help and thank you.
How similar V70 Turbo AWD servise wise and the more std V70

the service instructions for the 2.4T will be exactly the same except for items where the AWD angle gear may be in the way. Turbo replacement is slightly more difficult only because the angle gear makes reaching lower fasteners harder. The engines in 2.4T and the XC70 are the same.
All the torques will be the same, the plug gap is the same, replacing brake parts is the same.
I would suggest looking online for "VADIS". that is the last generation Volvo service literature but it is complete for the year model of your car and is likely cheaper than a Hyanes manual.
