Tim, Here is your Future... With a 6 year old car @80 k be prepared to do timing belt, Wheel bearings, CV Axles and in the not to distant future you will be looking at Struts, Ball joints, Motor mounts, Tranny mount, PCV Cleaning etc etc etc. A Volvo is a Great Car if you can keep it maintained. Good Luck! and Buy some Tools.

I restore cars as a hobby. I am fully aware of regular maintenance items for any car. I also have a garage full of tools and many years of experience in using them. If you are interested, this is my current build: http://www.broncofix.com/viewtopic.php?t=275101

When someone (or least I) buy a car from a dealer, I expect it to make it more than 2 days before there are problems, especially one that that has been serviced regularly for its young 80k mile life.

WOW Volvo should be a snap.. Glad you have tools and its a Hobby! I cant believe the Dealer was unable to predict the alt failure? lol
