Remove Bevel Gear Option

Hi,

After problems with the Bevel Gear and VC one writer has mentioned that I may be better off totally removing the bevel gear due to the loud whining from the unit without the drive shaft installed.

Does anyone have experience with this. How do I "seal" the output shaft area?

Any help appreciated.

Again, from VolvoXC, seems like a very easy project.

-Remove passenger side axle.
-Unbolt bevel gear
-Replace metal collar with some Loctite or similar
-Replace axle.

Done.

I'll be doing this in a week or so. I'll make a DIY writeup.
