Question on AC in 2001 S60 one side hot one side cold
my daughter is upcoming college sophomore. we bought her a 2001 s60 2.4 a year ago. the a/c would blow cold air to the driver but hot air to the passenger. recently it blows hot air to both sides. i did a search and found that it could be a cable malfunction that controls the flapper door to the a/c. sounds reasonable to me any other suggestions?? if this is the most likely scenerio , how do i access the cable and flapper door to fix the problem???? thanx, it starting to get hot in TN, ,,thanx,,, mike

Get refrigerant level checked. That car has electric servo motors for hot/cold air blending for temp control.
When refrigerant gets low the evaporator that air passes through to get chilled will not be cold on its entire surface and you'll get temp variation side to side on P2 Volvos. When it got lower on refrigerant due to leakage you now have no cooling.

I had the same issue on my 03 V70. I imagined having to have the flapper doors recalibrated, but I took it to the local Volvo independent and they did two things - evacuated and recharged the system (they said it was slightly low), and they replaced a non-operating radiator fan. Now it blows cold and evenly.

Bump into somewhere to verify refrigerant charge and if that checks to be OK then go to someone who is serious enough in Volvos to have VIDA (like a dealer) or Autologic or whatever else does FULL support of Volvos with network so they can read parameters and calibrate damper motors on climate system.
what answers were you looking for? S60's ALL use electric motors to move the doors in cliamte system whether they have full auto climate or the manual climate (rare) systems.
Systems getting low on refrigerant in Volvos and many other makes start with select warm vents and, of course, quit cooling altogether when the charge gets low enough.
