Intermittent Instrument Cluster

Post by genwheeler »

Hi
My instrument cluster, along with the door locks and windows will intermittently quit. I'm assuming the problem is in the instrument cluster or ignition switch. Anyone else have this problem? I did a search but didn't come up with what I was looking for. I have a 2004 V70. Has anyone removed the instrument cluster in a that era car? I've removed dashboards and instrument clusters before so I don't think it would be hard but wouldn't mind some tips since it's always nice to not remove parts that don't have to come out.

Thanks

It does sound like an issue with the ignition switch. Does anything else stop working? Do you ever have an issue getting the car our of park?

The car runs and drives fine. It shifts out of park just fine too. Door locks, turn signals, windows and the instrument cluster go out. The radio and a/c work still work as do the wipers, headlights, parking lights and brake lights. I'd like to get my hands on a wiring diagram.

The dashboard /cluster is inredibly easy to pop out to remove the cluster.
The whole thing took me 5 min.

For repairs I just did this:

you can easily send out your cluster to get repaired for under $200. I just did it. Go to Ebay and lookup seller euro-electric. They give you easy instructions on how to pop out your panel, mail it to them and they ship it back fixed 1 2 3. Dont do like I did and wait for years and trying everything under the sun.

There are other sellers that seem more expensive out there.
or can search.
"VOLVO INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REPAIR". If you dont want to use ebay
you can just call them. 866 281 2414.

No I dont work there i just used their service and boy I wish i knew about it earlier
