C70 PCV Need answer by monday morning please

Post by djoker04 »

My Volvo is at a Volvo Specialist (actual name) in Rockville MD and i need the PCV done. I trust the mechanic with this but the cost for the PCV is $600...I see FCP has it waaay cheaper....she told me I can get my own parts just make sure they will fit....I'm trying to save money....is this the correct one...or should I call them directly (FCP) to make sure the order is correct!! I have 2.3 Turbo..I read the entire PCV repair thread...and everyone mentions it...just want a head to head answer....My 1st Volvo and my new mecahnic has showed me allot......I know i'm answering my own question...just want to Verify!!

Thanks
Karl

if in doubt, call them on the phone and give the the car's VIN and they'll send you the right kit.
so don't dread the issue.

In a 2002 there's about $220 worth of (retail Volvo) parts
be very careful with aftermarket hoses.
Some are not made as well and can fail rather quickly and you don't want to go thru this twice
$400 too is about RETAIL FLAT RATE labor
Job calls for 4.3 hours (I can do it in about an hour and a half but things can and do go wrong from time to time)
I would negotiate their labor
Mod note. Jim passed away in early 2022, his contributions to this forum are immortal, and he is missed. RIP

+1 on OEM parts for this. The $ difference is not huge and the fit and quality are much better.
Also, +1 for read the how-to here and consider doing it yourself. It's not a bad job and you'll get a chance to clean off a lot of grime - from the car AND yourself!
