Starts sometimes won't start others

My girlfriend's s80 (which has become my responsibility to maintain/repair) just delevoped some funny symptoms. It will sometimes refuse to turn over at all. I told her to jiggle the steering wheel around and shift it from p into n a few times and on the 5th time it started. It has been doing it for a few days now and Its seems to be getting worse. Is there a relay that might have gone bad that I could replace? Has anybody had a similiar problem? Thanks much- this is great site
