stalling s60

Post by b5254t »

2002 s60 non turbo will start and run for two seconds and stall. It will only restart after cylcling the key and run for two seconds each time. It has 55 psi fuel pressure, it loses the spark and shuts off the injector pulse. It seems to be related to the immobolizer but is setting no dtcs. the cem was already changed antenna ring, ignition switch, nothing seems to be working. Anyone run into this problem before any help would be greatly appreciated Thinking it is the ECM any thoughts?

The cem was changed and reloaded by a dealer? If it was a used CEM then it will do that as it does not have the key code memory.
What order did you do all these things?

1st I tried cem reload, then ecm reload, tried reprograming the keys and still the same. Then replaced the cem with a brand new one and reprogrammed the keys. everything in the immo status is good except for the ecm -cem vin status says no and the cem vin code says no.

No communication codes for ECM?
ECM is likely it but before that is done the circuits used for the ECM-CEM "handshake" need to be checked. DO you have access to breakout box adapters, breakout box, and wiring diagrams?

Yes I already had a breakout box hooked up at the ecm, tcm, and cem. All had 2.1 volts on the low side and 2.8 on the high side. And yes no dtcs are coming up except a ddm code for internal fault. already checked for fretting on the pins on tcm and ecm. I dragged cleaned the terminals and cleaned with electrical cleaner.

Great! Thorough checks done already!
The wiring I was concerned with the the K line pin B22 ECM to pin D6 at CEM.
I'm pretty sure the Denso system retained its Immo linkage through that line in place of CAN as on Bosch ME 7.01.
I have encountered no starts with VCT 2000 and DiCE in use on Denso P2's

I just looked up the wiring diagram and you are correct. I will look at that wire when I go back to work on tuesday. Have you found any breaks common in that wire? corosion? rubbing through?

Checked the wire between the ecm - cem and it ohmed out at 1.0 ohms no breaks. Any suggestions?

No codes set, just the parameters for ECM-CEM VIN code and CEM VIN remain no?
When you go to the immobilizer parameters is the key(s) recognized?
I know you re-programmed them but the numeric code programming is not an actual radio recognition.

no codes set reading off the parameters in the cem under the immo tab, the keys are recognized, both of them. Start is possible. Everything is good except for those two. when the vehicle does start for the 2 seconds the cem-vin switches back and forth from yes to no and back and forth until it dies. the cem vin still remains no. I am thinking it is the ecm. Techline is thinking the same. Just a big gamble with someone elses money.
