This thread from the XC forum reports a failure of this part number at 8,000 miles. I have asked the person reporting to contact Don at vexedvolvo with details. This does not bode well for those of us drivning around with this part. We must push this issue with NHSTA. If you have a failure especially a second failure, please report it. There are threads on this website and vexedvolvo to get to NHSTA. They are our only hope of a recall. Customer care recently told me the warranty extension is the best we will get from them. Let's just hope unsuspecting owners don't get stranded or worse when their ETMs fail for the second, third or even fourth time. That sounds a little far fetched but consider them failing at even 20 or 30K. I only have 60,000 miles on an 01. I could rack up a few ETMs. I would just have to hope I was near a dealer (closest dealer is an hour away by four lane highway). We need to get volvo to pay for our tows as well.
