2005 S60 2.5T Does it have bevel gear?

Post by c-jaye »

Hi All, I'm new here. Can anyone tell me if my volvo (2005 s60 2.5T) has a bevel gear? I thought it was only AWD? Mine is FWD. It's making a loud click sound when you are stopped and shift between drive and reverse and back. The mechanic at Volvo said it might be the bevel gear. Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

No
Probably some axle spline wear, they all do this after some miles

No bevel gear just as stated above sounds like axle spline noise which is normal for these. You can glue it with special metal glue, but I would advise against b/c it makes it hard to work on in the future.

So there's no bevel gear...And thats what the Volvo dealer' mechanic suggested it might be. Oh my... Thanks for confirming that! Is there a way that I can physically check the axle myself to see if its worn? Would there be any other signs that I should look for? Thanks!
