Volvo 850 Cold Start Problems

Post by frootmig »

Hello,
I have a 96 850 Estate, and this last week I have been having terrible problems starting the engine from cold i.e. first thing in the morning. Once the car is started it runs fine with no apparent problems and any subsequent restarts once the engine the engine is slightly warm are ok.

I have just had a brand new battery and a full service with new plugs, airfilter, oil change etc, one thing that has been showing up is the coolant temperature sensor has been slow to react(I had a new thermostat in Aug last year), so I have measured the resistance of the sensor when cold and it measures about 500 Meg Ohms, now to me this seems a little excesive. Could this be causing my poor cold start by making the injection system flood the engine?
Can any body tell me what the resistance of the sensor should be at about 5-10 degrees celsius?

I wouls be a great help thanks
