Idle problems

Post by Markies1 »

I got an Volvo V70 XC AWD, I see that the Air mass meter is unpluged when i got the car, when i plug it in is that the car idle till its hot and then it dies... when we drive with it in the car jurkes a lot, it happens til it goes to 4000rpm. But when we plug it out it pulls fine with good power. On the idle side, it plays from normal idle to 2500rpm it goes up and down, up and down, sometime when you drive a bit it stays normal when stoping at stop or robot. What can I do to fix it? Could it be the idle sensor valvle and wher do i locate it on the motor?

Sounds like the mass airflow sensor is just bad.

Must I replace the whole unit that fits to the air cleaner, or just the sensor on it?

if the car runs better with the MAF disconnected, then that means you need a new MAF unit. There is no Idle control valve in P2 cars.

What make the car idle then up and down, up and down all the time? When the car runs for a bit and then when we stop it idle fine no problems. Ok I will replace the MAF and then see what it does.

These cars acutally have a computer controlled idle. When the car senses that the idle is too low or high it will adjust the gass intake to a certain degree to try and get the correct idle speed.

For God's sake just replace the MAF sensor
Buy a Bosch (same as OEM VOLVO boxed) about $120 or less, (vs $250) takes 4 minutes to change
