440 grinding from starter motor

Hi

I am new to the forum but was wondering whether other forum members have experienced a similar problem.
When I start the car cold or warm it has a grinding sound coming from the starter motor when I start the vehicle. It sounds like the starter is not disengaging the flywheel. I had a similar problem 18 months ago and the auto electrician said it was a cracked terminal and an incorrect battery for the vehicle. He replaced the terminal and installed a new battery and it has not experienced the problem since but only in the last few weeks the problem has started to reoccur. I would appreciate any advice as I am at the mercy of what the auto electrician advises and these guys rates are quite expensive considering the car has little resale value.
