2004 XC70 Transmission drain plug

Post by vltjr »

In the course of changing out the radiator in this car, I discovered that the trans fluid is cooked. I've found lots of good info in these forums on changing the fluid, but since this is my first time doing it I want to make sure of something: Is the drain plug the 24mm brass fitting that faces the to the right (pass side)? Also, I read about replacing the aluminum washer when reinstalling the plug. Will a generic washer from any auto parts store do, or is this a Volvo specific item? By the way, I'm assuming it's a crush washer. Is that correct?

Thanks.

For any other XC70 neophyte who may have these same questions in the future, the answers are: Yes, that is the plug; yes generic will do - no need for a Volvo-specific washer; and yes, it is a crush washer.
