Help, Advice and DIY Tutorials on Volvo's P80 platform cars -- Volvo's 1990s "bread and butter" cars -- powered by the ubiquitous and durable Volvo inline 5-cylinder engine.
I believe the '93 850 was the only year that had 4 stud hubs.

Thanks. Do you guys replace the Rotors whenever the front pads are replaced? My mechanics didn't after checking the rotor a month ago. Now my son is complaining the brake is not as responsive as before. He said he has to press harder and deeper. I have similar feeling too but don't know if it has to do with the rotor. What do you reckon?
If the old pads were original equipment type and the new ones are semi-metallic, they might not seem as responsive and require a little more pressure. I wonder about the comment that he has to press "deeper". If the pedal feels spongy or goes down close to the floor, the lines might need to be bled. Were the calipers or lines changed?
don't think bendix is one of the better ones of the pads out there...
but there's no reason to change a rotor when u change pads unless the rotors are worn down or close to its minimum thickness, or warped to the stage that if you try to machine it, it will go below its minimum thickness... that's unless you want to spend extra money..
Pads can get changed three or four times before you need to change the rotors, but it depends on your driving habits.
A mushy brake pedal means there's probably air in the lines and should be bled.
Not sure on Bendix pads; I know the Akebono pads are really good and highly recommend them.

I used Mintex pads and Centric rotors on both of my S70's and I'm very happy with them. When I got the 99, you could hear the brakes squealing from when my wife turned the corner 1/4 of a mile up the road.
I've always changed rotors every other pad change - I've never had rotors last 3-4 sets of brake pads without warping.
