Volvo's response was they have no intention at present to follow suit (referring to the warranty extension in the US)... the reasons stated were:
1. because there have not been enough failures reported.
2. my car has driven over 60K miles
3. the car hasn't been serviced via a Volvo outlet since 60K..
Can't understand the latter to be honest as I thought it was a non maintained part and the car has clearly been serviced regimentally every 12Kmiles.. albeit by a reputable but non-volvo outlet.
I need the car on the road so I have been forced to get it sorted and on the road so that I can commute to work.
I will follow up on this though direct with Volvo i.e. battle lost but the war'll rage on..
Next step to get in touch with the guy was more successful than I to find out the dealer he went through..
