Anyone have a new XC60 with pedestrian detection?
I'm a reporter working on a story about automotive tech including pedestrian detection systems. If you've used one, I'd love to talk to you. Please email me at [email protected]. Thank you!
XC60 does not have pedestrian detection. It has city safety, where the car stops itself at speeds below 19 mph and that is standard on all xc60's. The s60 has pedestrian detection part of the tech package...i'm a volvo car salesman by the way

I have a 2012 S60 with a package that includes what Volvo calls "City Safety". I think it is a system similar to the Pedestrian Detection. I have tested the system by putting up two large garbage plastic cans and driving the car towards them. The car froze without any involvement on my part when it came about two feet from the barrier. However, I was going slow, about 15 MPH. I think the system is designed to avoid minor collisions like those in city traffic with frequent stops where one might get careless and bump onto the car in front. I would not trust it with pedestrians though
