2003 S60 Automatic Shift (manual mode selector)

The internal component that allows to operate and change the transmission gear in manual mode became damage. The gear shifter is operational but the spring tension for the manual shifting is gone. My mechanic informed me that the actual part that broke only cost $10, but the labor will be three to four hours.

Questions: does anyone has written instructions on how to perform this work or the complexity is such that only an expert can be recommended. Any feed back will be greatly appreciated.

i have the same problem with my 2001 v70. just happened. volvo says 3 hours and $20. in parts. im going to try it myself and ill repost when i finish it. however it may not be the same procedure for your car
