2002 c70 seat swap

Post by karmasai »

Hi, I'm looking to replace the fully automatic seats in my C70 to something completely manual. That being said, I was thinking of getting sparco or momo seats. I am curious about three things:

1) has anyone ever done this before??? I know the dealers won't do this since SIPS bags are in the seat base, so I'm curious where I can go to get it done... I can do it myself, but I'd rather just have it done since it's a safety concern.

2) I am also curious if the seat bracket adapters momo and sparco offer as "universal" parts will work; will the brackets need any kind of serious modifications?

3) Has anyone tried putting seats from a c70 into an 850? I saw posts for V70 seats into an 855, but I'm not sure if the V/S 70 series seats are compatible with a first gen C70 either. I ask mainly because the majority of aftermarket seat brackets are made for 850s

thanks

Hey There,

I have seen a few people up sparco seats in the S70 so it should be very similar. You should not need to modify the brackets much but you will need to do something to them to make them work. Have you ever installed sparco seats before?

no, but i replaced the seats and seat belts in my old pontiac sunfire while in auto-shop. that was hella basic; 4 standard bolts for the rails, slider rails riveted to the seat, seat-belt attached to the floor/frame of the car using two massive torx bolts for each mount point.

I see in this car, the seat belt's attached the the seat base, so it seems more complicated right off the bat. There's also the issue of the SIPS and SRS leads.

My main concern is buying the right equipment to install, as well as for the installation. ...got any pointers?

Here's the seat I plan on getting. (it'll be in gray and black; second image down, on the right)
