Hello everyone!
Im a new user to this site as of today and i need spme advice with my 1997 Volvo 850 T-5
The current problem im having is the engine is actually revving itself from 1400 rpm to sometimes 3200rpm
at the highest. This happens even when idling or in neutral.
The second problem im having is just yesterday my dashboard began smoking and i could hear a hissing noise in the car. I was parked when it was happening and i had been idling for about 7 or 8 mins waiting for someone. It was raining and i know that the 850 has limited splash guarding for some reason and i had driven through some large puddles. If anyone can tell me what is happening that would be awesome.
Thanks
John
Please Help! 850 is acting up :(

I would check the MAF first; unplug it and see if there is any change in the idle rpms. I suppose the other could have been steam created from the puddle, but not really sure.

Look at you filter airbox, you will notice a bosh part attached to a plug with two torx screws
