Glad to hear you're okay!
You will need to post some pics of your new car after you swap the suspension, etc., over to it. BTW, how do those Bilstein's and IPD springs ride? I'm thinking of that same setup in my '96 850R wagon. Either the IPD springs or H&R springs. Can't decide.
This is Why You Drive a Volvo
I forget that safety is one of the reasons that I orginally bought my used 2000 XC. I've had to work on it a lot since buying it 5 years ago. The person before me must have never done any maintenance. So in cussing it for having something go out on it every other week, I forget just how safe my dog and I are while cruising.
Glad you have a happy ending with your wreck. And I agree with the other person, I like that color! I'm glad I live in Wyoming with no freeways. I grew up in Houston and I don't miss them a bit. But we have to watch for deer and elk and moose. Hitting one of them can ruin your day.

Glad you're OK, glad I'm sticking with my Volvo. I remember watching a driver's ed video at high school in 1981. The narrator said, "Always assume everyone else on the road is a homocidal maniac." LOL. I've always thought was over the top, but you never know. Maybe that should be Volvo's catch phrase, with "It makes sense to buy a Volvo" tagged onto it.
Again, the most important thing is that you're OK!
I drive my Harleys like everyone is trying to kill me. So far after 47 years of riding, no bad crashes. I drive my cars defensively too.

We only drive Volvo's for a similar reason. My wife and oldest daughter went out one rainy evening a few years back to take food to her aunt that was jut home from the hospital. She was driving her dream car: 2000 Volvo V70XC. While slowing down for a red light, they were rear ended by a police officer doing 50+ mph that never even saw them in front of him. The Volvo flipped 1 1/2 times - landing on its top. My family escaped with only minor injuries. I can find pics and post if anyone is interested in seeing the condition of the car, if you only look at the condition of the cop's car - you could easily assume that everyone in the accident died or had critical injuries. I wrote a letter to Volvo that stated we believed "Volvo saved my life." I believe it. We'll never own anything but a Volvo.

These photos would make an excellent addition to this thread. They would definitely add more power to the argument of Volvo's safety record. And they go down well on a Sunday afternoon barbecue with friends when extolling the virtues of these fine machines
