Any chance of figuring out an auto up mod, too? I hate holding all four windows, then hitting the sunroof. Seems like it takes me 12 minutes to leave my car!

Adding auto up for both front windows requires two more relays. I went to the junk yard last weekend and pulled them out of some of the older 850s they had there. Fortunately for this project, the 850's window switch design remained unmodified throughout the model run. You can take a relay or window switch from any 850 model and it will work. Make sure you grab the whole harness when you remove these new relays. It wont make a difference difference to the junkyard employees; the 2 relays and a trim piece I bought cost $13 bucks. Splice in the blue and black wires from both new relays onto the existing blue and black wires from the previously installed relay(see above). The yellow wires then need to be attached to the other end of both front window switches, youll have two yellow wires coming out of them. The green wires of the relays need to be connected to the wires going back to the grey harness at the front of the center console. They are a blue wire with a green stripe for driver's window up and a blue wire with a white strip for passenger's window up. As far as the location of the new relays goes, I stuffed them under the shifter with some foam tape to prevent noise. Still not too happy with it and I'm working on a way of securing them deeper inside the center console area. I'm in the process of making a harness with a simple connector for both up relays to make it easier to remove and install the center console. This has become an ongoing project but I will update as I go but rest assured I have both front windows currently working with auto up and auto down functionality . Post any questions. Thanks.

can this be done for a v70? I've been thinking about this for some time, and just ran aacross your post.

Just what I needed... another project. Hehe.

I want to expand this project. Think I want to do all four windows.... and the sunroof, all with touch of a button. I'm working on acquiring replacement switches right now and I want to mod the center console so why not yank the parts for this at the same time!

Could there be a way to modify the existing sunroof switch to auto open all windows too? Utilize the auto open for the sunroof that activates when you firmly hold down on the button while maintaining the controlled open/close when you use light pressure as it currently is? Or could you just add another used sunroof switch in one of the unused console panels directly next to the sunroof switch?

Another thought... the child lock button on the drivers side? Could this be used to auto open back windows instead of locking the windows.

Maybe with a keyless entry remote?

Next project... get it to do my laundry.

A mod that I would like is the ability to add a switch to the drivers door. I put over 700,000 miles on cars with a window switch in the door. Now these 850's drive me nuts. I still reach for the door every once in a while.

There is a switch in the rear door panels, what will it take to add one to the front doors. I did try one day for about an hour and could not figure it out. :?

You can add as many switches between the
power and the window motor as you wish.
This page should help you Spock it out:
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/power-window2.htm

You would need the two wires currently running
from the existing switch to the motor as well as
power and ground. You could pick up ground in
the door, but I would suggest bringing it in from
the car for greater reliability. So - A 2 wire run.

Once you get the power ( from the window supply)
and a solid chassis ground into the door, you can wire.
Auto features could also be used. Down would be easiest,
and using a 70 series switch would make it even easier.

The biggies for this job would be getting the power and
ground out and into the door and the actual switch mounting.

NICE MOD!!! One hour was enough to complete my dual auto windows!!

Excelent description.....no chance to make a mistake....due the need of remove the console i decide to change my cracked gear knob.. I replaced with a wood knob, and cutted 30 mm the support to make it like the Jaguars!!.. I will post the pictures..
