ABS or BCM module

Post by lowertc2 »

i know these are one in the same ABs and Brake control module , can someone tell me or show a diagram of where it's located and a DIY removal guide? i might be interested in removing and sending to get repaired!

What is the Body control module. and in the code read out is the BCM Brake or Body control? IE no communication with BCM?

if this needs to be replaced by the dealer what is the book hours rate to replace this?

the abs units in these units dont fail return to dealer to have codes scanned volvo has a new program in the us and will supply free diag for their coustomers as well as a free software update to all systems when doing a normal maint service indivdually thes softwares would cost hundreds of dollars and the end result is your car will run and feel better

VolvoDoc~ Does the program you speak of cover 2001 S60? I'm P0504 & P0574 codes that seem to point to BCM problems.

Folks offer to rebuild BCMs. It also appears that the 2001 S60 BCM requires programming.

It would be great if Volvo could fix this with a software patch.

Thanks in advance for any information on this subject.

Have the wiring checked. There was a Service Bulletin for the BCM issued May 2010. I wasn't aware of this in Nov 2010 and had the BCM replaced, but after replacing it the BCM still didn't work and they traced the problem to a "can signal wire" (7.5 hours later) - they actually typed this up in the invoice they gave me afterward. After reading the Service Bulletin (while looking for PCV issues) last week, I'm a bit p.o.'d!! It states in Service Bulletin #TJ-5931 (NHTSA Item #10033816) "Volvo: Unnecessary Brake Control Module (BCM) replacements. When diagnosing diagnostic trouble codes (DTC's) for brake control system, technician must always follow complete dianostic fault tracing path in VIDA. VIDA always lists possible sources of fault. *PE" Maybe mine was really toast, but I kind of have doubts now becuase it was doing something before they replaced it ("BCM kept pump motor running." from the shop invoice).
