s60 hub bearing

I had my mechanic check a grinding noise coming from the front end as the car slows down. I was told that I need to replace the front hub bearings. The car has 115k. Is this the normal life expectency for this part or should I get a second opinioun. If I most change this part, what is a good replacement part brand? Thank you! Rick

I just replaced today front hub assembly on my S70. Couldn't find just the bearing itself. I don't know about the S60, I haven't replaced them on my 03 T5. Actually, I wasn't sure where the humming sound was coming from but I know it was in the front. A hub assy. from IPD cost about $125 for after market so I pulled out one from a wrecked S80 in the junk yard, installed it and the humming was gone. It was a trial and error and I hit it right on the head.

JUst replaced one (not two) on my 2007 S60 (65K miles). It was early but very prematurely worn. Cost was about $400 all told

Probably from all the salt spray in the road. If you must replace the other side check on ebay first, you will save money on the part.
